TAP League Nationals

How Do You Advance To Play In a National Championship Event?
Licensees have different ways of qualifying and advance their teams for the National Championship Events. The most popular method is to hold a tournament of all qualified teams from Summer, Fall from the previous year and Spring of that current year. Qualified teams are winners of a session in that time period. For example, if your team places in the top 3 for all 3 sessions your team has 3 chances at the tournament, 1 for each session.
Winners of those tournaments advance for the trip to a National Championship Event. Check with your licensee/operator to see how many teams they send and how you qualify for the National Trip in their territory.
The suggested per diem is for every 18 teams a licensee/operator has 1 team that can win a trip to Nationals. However, TAP is a very flexible national organization and we realize what works in one part of the country or Canada might not work in another area so Titleholder and national formats to qualify Teams and Singles may vary.
National Products at the TAP National Events are:Â Team 8-Ball – Team 9-Ball – Singles 8-Ball – Singles 9-Ball. Various Mini Events are ran throughout the event. Times will vary depending on the schedule of the main events.
TAP is excited to announce the addition of two new formats to our National Tournament. Scotch Doubles and 10 – Ball will now run in the same arena as 8-Ball, 9-Ball Team and Single events. For our first year qualifications vary slightly so check with you Licensee to see how to qualify.
Held in the same arena as the TAP National Championship Event, we’ve added one of TAP’s most liked formats, The Dream Team Event. Ran in conjunction with the National Event This addition started in 2010 to invite other teams that did not qualify for the National Championships or if their areas team counts did not follow our restrictions an opportunity to see what it is all about.
TAP’s National Welcome Party:
The evening before the event, TAP Corporate hosts a “Welcome Party” for the players and licensees to enjoy. With the arena set up you can play pool, eat, drink and get to know people from other areas before the games begin the next morning. So mingle around and meet your TAP family and friends from all over the United States and Canada.
It wasn’t until 2002 that TAP rolled into Las Vegas Nevada for the first TAP National Championships hosted by Palace Station. Before the event was over the invitation to return for the 2003 TAP National Championships was accepted for 2003. When TAP Founder, Loyd Schonter agreed to add a National Events to the TAP program his intention was to make it different. A great way to promote the sport, entertain the players and their family was to have a Traveling Nationals. This shows the players new locations and show the locations what we are about, a traveling billboard for the sport of amateur pool.
New Orleans was the 2004 TAP National Championships location hosted by the Radisson on Canal Street right in the heart of great jazz and great food. A second year was signed, however the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina forced us to change our plans. The Radisson has still not reopened.
Louisville Kentucky the home of the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger and much more seemed to be the right choice for our 2005 TAP National Championships hosted by the beautiful Galt House Hotel. The location was a great success based on the players views so we returned for the 2006 TAP National Championships.
Myrtle Beach South Carolina was chosen for the 2007 National Championships hosted by Sheraton Convention Center Hotel Resort. A hot spot itself for people to vacation, this location served the player to the level we were hoping for. The invitation for us to return was on the table but due to our massive growth we tipped our hats and moved on to a bigger location.
Orlando Florida came to be the next stop for the 2008 TAP National Championships. The home of Disney World proving to be a great location for the families of the players. The host location was The Caribe Royale and a great host for the TAP event.
The TAP member wanted a little more of that Southern hospitality, so we went to Charleston South Carolina for our 2009 TAP National Championships. Hosted by the Embassy Suites & Convention Center,  An area voted on as one of the friendliest places to visit in the United States. Full of history, great food and grand ol’ times. We took a rain check for an invitation to return and moved onward.
TAP returns to Las Vegas Nevada for its 2010 and 2011 TAP National Championships, after six years of being away. Returning to Las Vegas but to a larger location  Bally’s Casino and Hotel. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas wasn’t the case at this event. The players brought back great memories and good times.
TAP will be calling in the rain check we were offered in 2009 to return to Charleston South Carolina for our 2012 National Championships. Embassy Suites Convention Center. Voted #1 US City.
The TAP National Championships for 2013, The winds on the outskirts of Chicago demand the best as the windy city will be blowing in the talents of the 2013 TAP’s National Championships to Pheasant Run Resorts. You can reserve your room today for this great event.
The TAP National Championships for 2014, Saddle up Players Dallas Texas invites us November 13th-16th to be hosted by the Hilton Antole ,another fine location. Nothing but the best for the TAP member. More information to follow.
The TAP National Championships for 2015. They are playing our song so we are going to The Gayloard Resort in Nashville Tennesee.

When Loyd Schonter, FOUNDER and CEO of TAP, LLC came up with the concept of a dream team event, it was a concept original and of its own in the billiard industry. Loyd and Allen Hopkins decided in 1996 to partner up and in conjunction TAP would hold their own event, during Allen’s Super Billiards Expo. Hence, a perfect time to release the TAP Rally in the Valley event/concept.
Over the last 22 years, the event has grown tremendously, sold out every year, and every year it grows and sells out again.
Today, the TAP Rally in the Valley event is not only 8 Ball Dream Team, which it started with, but now includes 9 Ball Dream Team along with Singles and Scotch Doubles.
