Good evening, KC TAP! Tonight’s pool roundup brings fresh results from the Philippines Open and the European Seniors Championships. Scores below reflect the organizers’ October 20–21 reports.

Alcaide survives; Bergman rallies in Quezon City

David Alcaide kept his Philippines Open title defense alive on October 21, edging Paul John Ortega 10–9 in the last 64. Ortega reached the hill first, but a missed 8-ball gave the defending champion a route back.

American Justin Bergman overturned a 7–3 deficit against last year’s runner-up Arseni Sevastyanov, winning seven of the final eight racks for a 10–8 victory and a last-32 place. Shane Van Boening opened with a 10–2 win over Chris Stripple, while Fedor Gorst beat Vitaly Pavlukhin 10–0. Local player Tristan Decareza supplied another upset, defeating Duong Quoc Hoang 10–7.

The tournament runs October 20–24 at Gateway Mall in Quezon City. Read the World Nineball Tour’s day-two report.

In Gandia, Spain, the October 20 straight-pool finals produced two close finishes. Portugal’s Henrique Correia beat Germany’s Reiner Wirsbitzki 75–50 for the 56-plus title. Italy’s Fabio Petroni came back from 74–29 down to edge Jim Telfer of the Netherlands 75–74 in the 46-plus final.
